Sumbody | Wipe Anew Face Pads

On my last trip to the Bay Area I was walking past a store window with handmade soaps and body butters on display. Being the curious little product junkie that I am, I walked inside and started perusing. To my delight they had a large array of skincare, body care, and makeup products all locally made with all natural ingredients. When I came across the face pads from their Early Prevention line flashbacks to Noxzema pads immediately came to mind. A toner in a pad form? I had to learn more from the store clerk.

I asked her, “Are these like Noxzema pads and pick up any left over dirt from cleansing?”. She replied, “No…think of them more like putting back all the good stuff your cleanser took off.” Hhmm…interesting, right?

The packaging is your standard plastic with a screw-on lid. When initially opened it is sealed for freshness with a covering you must remove before using. The pads are pretty standard too. I want to say they’re 100% cotton but I cannot confirm nor deny that. A close up of the pads show a weave pattern that’s still gentle on the skin no matter how hard you wipe and perfect for picking up any leftover grime your cleanser might’ve missed.

They have a pleasant chamomile scent that’s soothing. The pads are soaked with just the right amount of toner making application a breeze. Like toner mists, they can be used throughout the day if your face needs to be refreshed. However, if you’re wearing makeup then I’d suggest you don’t use these. The ingredients are quite simple – witch hazel, hydrosols, oils, and extracts. That’s it!

Those with problematic and/or oily skin will love the witch hazel, neroli hydrosol, chamomile hydrosol, and cranberry extract for their astringent but soothing properties. Lemon peel, orange peel, pineapple, and apricot extracts all contain wonderful properties that naturally exfoliate and treat the skin leaving it bright and rejuvenated. For the rose hip lovers this contains the oil and the extract! Notably, it also contains co-Q10 enzyme which, if you grew up like me seeing it on Nivea bottles, is great for anti-aging benefits. In fact, all the ingredients are great for anti-aging!

Ingredients: Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), Neroli Hydrosol (Citrus aurantium), Chamomile Hydrosol ( Matricaria recutita), Carrot oil (Daucus carota), Rose hip oil (Rosa canina), Lemon Peel (Citrus limon) extract, Orange Peel (citrus aurantium) extract, Black Tea (camellia sinensis) extract, Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) extract, Pineapple (Ananas comosus) extract, Co-Q10 Enzyme (Zea Mays), Apricot (Armeniaca vulgaris) extract, Rose hip (Rosa canina) extract.

I couldn’t find on the label or website if these ingredients were certified organic, fair trade, or otherwise. However, the website does express that they are “responsibly cultivated clean products.” Although this is under the Early Prevention line, I feel that it can be safely used by all ages. If used twice daily then you’ll get about a month’s worth of product (50 pads). Is it worth the $16? Eeh, that can be argued by some. In comparison, some luxury toner mists go for nearly double the price and can be wasted when spritzing all over the place. At least with it being soaked in a pad I know it’s going directly onto my face.

I’ve been using these off and on for several months now during my morning and night routines. With upward strokes, I swipe it all over my face. The way it makes my face look the next morning is wonderful to wake up to. It’s leaves my face glowing, toned, and supple. Surprisingly, it hasn’t dried out in the jar or when I apply. Then again, with so may moisturizing ingredients I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise after all. This has been a great gateway product to pique my interest in the world of toners and would definitely consider this repurchase worthy.
