Yüli | Pure Treatment Mask + Giveaway

Today, I’m a little more excited than usual to bring this post to you for a couple of reasons. My first reason being my opportunity to give you an honest review on a product that I absolutely love from one of my favorite brands. The second reason being that said mask is coming to you in the form of a giveaway! So continue reading to the end and I’ll have more details on how you can win!

I believe one of the most important steps for any skincare ritual is a weekly mask. Of course, this can be adjusted according to your skin type or needs but pampering your skin to some extra love is a necessary step in my personal opinion. For my problematic skin and hormonal breakouts I thought it pretty important to have a mask that can help with issues deeper than the surface. Clay masks are perfect for that since they work to draw out toxins and impurities from beneath the surface of your skin. There are so many skincare companies that have created their own concoctions of clay masks but I decided to turn to Yüli in the end for their Pure Treatment Mask. And I’m glad I did.

$65 per jar (1.7 oz / 48 g)

In my particular taste, I really loved the black glass packaging. It’s unisex, sturdy, and protects the potency of the product like nobody’s business. This was my first experience with a loose powder clay and I was so eager to try it the evening I got it. As directed, I scoop out about 1 teaspoon in a small bowl, wet my hands to place a few droplets of water on it, and mix it all together until I create a paste. It’s a bit of a dirty job but I love it. If you’re kind of a germaphobe, don’t have a small cosmetic scooper, and prefer to keep your nails out of the mud then I highly suggest picking up a bag of craft sticks to meet your needs.

One of the great things about this clay is that it can be used with a variety of mediums. Water, yogurt, apple cider vinegar, and (my personal favorite) manuka honey. I’ve been using it with honey lately and cannot sing enough high praises for it. When I wash it off my skin doesn’t feel stripped. My face feels refreshed, renewed, soft, and a little bit moisturized thanks to the honey. If your skin leans towards oily then something water based would be great for you. If you’re sensitive then mix it with yogurt. And if you’re like me, dry/normal, then honey will be your best friend.

In the picture below, the swatch to the right is the mask with a water base while the swatch to the left is used with manuka honey. The bottom picture is to show you how the mask dries up with the water mixture. The mask generally dries up in 15-20 minutes and will make your face completely stiff. If you use manuka honey, or any medium that is not purely liquid, then there is no dry time. I usually leave the mask on for about 25-30 minutes.

The main reason I chose this clay mask over others was the ingredients list. The rhassoul, Australian beige, and French green clays seemed like a great mixture to assist in pulling out toxins and impurities from beneath the skin. Several other ingredients such as rice powder, neem leaf powder, matcha, mung bean powder, cucumber extract and goji berry have been strongly used in Ayurvedic and Asian health practices. The touch of powdered rose petals is also great for those with problematic skin. It’s astringent, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties certainly helped me with those pesky pimples. The lactic acid from the milk powder will help exfoliate the skin and bring forth a more glowing complexion while the amino acids will assist in moisturizing. However, probably my favorite ingredient of all was the methylsulfonymethane or MSM, for short. It’s one of the purest forms of sulfur and is found in our bodies, along with other organisms. It helps promote and protect collagen, acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, and promotes pH balance within our body. I’ve been having a lot of luck with products containing MSM.

DSC_0908I’m really pleased with myself for purchasing this product. Finding different mediums to mix it with has been so much fun and I’m glad that in the end I was able to find my favorite, honey. If you use it responsibly then it should last you for quite a while. I’m coming up on my 9th month and still have about a quarter of the jar to go. The price point for this product can certainly leave you feeling a little on the broke end. So if you’re genuinely interested in trying out this product then I would love to give it to you. That’s right, my first giveaway!

Nice one. I love this mask too. I like that it is so versatile, draws out toxins, feeds the skin and exfoliates. Yuli told me to mix it with water first to activate it and then mix in honey etc if required. I have dry skin so I always mix in honey and a few drops of seed oil and sometimes yoghurt. Great review. (Ps i replied to your questions on your cell perfecto review).

    • I never thought to mix a little bit of your favorite oil with it! Great idea! Thank you very much for the support, Laura, and I’m happy you liked my review. ^_^
